Why Choose MTA Labs for Advanced Materials Engineering Services?

At MTA Labs, we understand that every client has unique requirements when it comes to materials engineering. That's why we work closely with our clients to develop customized solutions that meet their specific needs. From initial consultation to final delivery, our team is dedicated to delivering solutions that exceed our clients' expectations.

Materials, Technology Associates was founded twenty years ago by Mike Blum, who brought with him many years of experience in materials engineering, corrosion engineering and failure analysis in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, power generation, transportation, as well as semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Mike’s early experience included the development of corrosion resistant alloys and their weldability. This experience expanded over the years into the design,  manufacture and quality control of equipment covering power generation, merchant and specialty chemicals, medical devices and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Our company has developed over the years, working closely with the mechanical, electrical, process  and materials engineers of our clients to resolve problems in application laboratories, during plant start-up, and throughout the manufacturing process. The industries involved cover a broad range including semiconductors, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical, transportation  power generation, and clean energy.

MTA Inc. has a broad experience in failure analysis at all stages from design and manufacture, to installation and ongoing operation.

We have developed a team of highly experienced engineers and technicians, who carry out failure analysis, using a variety of techniques including dye penetrant testing, optical examination and metallographic sectioning, polishing and etching, scanning electron microscopy with EDS analysis, as well as Auger and XPS surface analysis.

Laboratory quality control testing includes the use of advanced electrochemical techniques for Critical Pitting Temperature and Critical Pitting Voltage evaluation of electropolished surfaces.

Metallographic sectioning is carried out for the evaluation of plasma sprayed coatings and electrodeposited coatings of nickel, copper, silver and gold. To deal with the examination and measurement of thickness down to the micron level, the final polish on the metallographic sections is done to a 0.05 micron finish.

Training courses related to failure analyses, corrosion, and welding are also provided via zoom on a group or personal level.

We believe that the best solutions are often the result of collaboration and teamwork. That's why we take a collaborative approach to problem-solving, working closely with our clients to understand their challenges and develop solutions that work for them. Our team brings together experts from a range of disciplines to provide a holistic approach to materials engineering.
